Last year, US Congress held public hearings on UFOs, sparking excitement among people about the possibility that the government was hiding evidence of extraterrestrial life. However, a recent interview with Bill Diamond, CEO of the SETI Institute, has dashed these hopes. In an interview with Space.com, Diamond revealed that there is no evidence of alien technology and dismissed the notion that the government is keeping information under wraps.
Despite this lack of evidence, Diamond expressed optimism about the search for habitable exoplanets beyond our solar system. According to him, statistics show that many stars have planets orbiting them and a significant number of these planets exist in the habitable zone and resemble Earth. This suggests there may be tens of billions of habitable worlds in our galaxy alone.
While some lawmakers like Rep. Tim Burchett have accused the federal government of covering up evidence of aliens, experts like Diamond maintain that there is no substantial evidence to support these claims. Despite a recent Pentagon report finding no evidence of intelligent interstellar life visiting Earth, the enthusiasm for finding aliens remains strong among many people worldwide.
