Greece is leading the way in Europe’s greenest smart city development with its $8 billion project near Athens, known as Ellinikon. Situated on the grounds of a former airport, the project has been underway for more than a decade and developers are determined to create a “zip-code paradise” at the site. The centerpiece of this ambitious undertaking is the Riviera Tower, which will be Greece’s first skyscraper.
The first phase of Ellinikon is set to be completed by 2026 and is expected to attract over a million new tourists while contributing 3.3 billion euros ($3.6 billion) to the Greek economy. As part of this trend of high-tech cities around the world, Ellinikon brings together modern amenities, stunning views, and sustainable practices in a unique urban environment. With its focus on eco-friendliness and advanced technology, Ellinikon represents the future of urban living in Europe and beyond.
