DoorDash introduces new portable health benefits program in Pennsylvania

DoorDash, a leading food delivery platform, has recently introduced a portable benefits savings program for its employees. The pilot program will be launched in Pennsylvania and will run from April to September 2024. This program is designed to help employees save money towards their financial goals by covering eligible expenses such as retirement savings, health, dental, and vision insurance, and paid time off.

The company understands the growing demand for flexible work arrangements that allow individuals to balance their delivery work with other responsibilities. According to DoorDash, many Dashers spend less than four hours per week on deliveries and already have other sources of income or benefits such as retirement savings or healthcare.

To participate in this pilot program, Pennsylvania DoorDash employees who earn at least $1,000 in the second quarter of the year (excluding tips) through the DoorDash platform can open a Stride Save account and receive deposits into their portable benefits savings. The account will remain portable even after the pilot program ends. Participating employees will receive deposits equal to 4% of their pre-tip earnings throughout the pilot program, and they will also have the option to contribute personal funds.

The Stride platform provides participants with access to information about benefits offerings and allows them to allocate their savings towards eligible categories such as retirement savings or healthcare expenses. By offering this program, DoorDash hopes to provide its employees with a more comprehensive financial planning solution while also promoting financial wellness within its workforce.

Overall, this new initiative by DoorDash shows that companies are becoming more aware of the need for flexible work arrangements that support employee well-being and financial stability. With more individuals seeking opportunities to earn extra income while balancing other responsibilities, it’s important for companies like DoorDash to continue innovating in order to meet these changing needs.
