The ongoing conflict in Gaza has taken a heavy toll on children, with nearly half of the population being affected. In the midst of this global initiative aimed at promoting the rights, safety, education, health and overall happiness of children worldwide, it is crucial to shed light on the devastating situation in Gaza.

Since October 7th, there have been Israeli attacks that have resulted in the deaths of at least 5,500 children, as reported by Palestinian officials. This means that one Palestinian child has been killed every 10 minutes. Moreover, around 1,800 children are still missing under the rubble with many feared dead. On top of this, over 9,000 children have been injured and many of them face life-altering consequences due to the conflict. This is particularly concerning for children who have already experienced trauma from multiple wars in their short lives.

It is essential to acknowledge and address the urgent need for protection and well-being of these innocent lives on this World Children’s Day. An infographic that displays the names and ages of less than half of the children who have been killed in the past six weeks serves as a stark reminder of the impact that ongoing conflict is having on children in Gaza. It is time for action to be taken to ensure that these children are safe and protected from further harm.
