Despite Sluggish Wage Growth, Israel’s Workforce Continues to Expand in April 2023

In April, the average salary for hired workers in Israel was 13,506 shekels

In April of this year, Israeli employees saw a 7.3% increase in their average wages compared to the same month in 2023, with an average gross monthly salary of NIS 13,506. However, when adjusted for inflation using the monthly price index, the average salary was actually NIS 11,319, which is just a 4.4% increase from April 2023 (NIS 10,839).

Despite the slight decrease in paid employment positions from March to April (by 0.2%), there were still a total of 3.965 million positions available in April. The highest-paid workers are those in the information and communications sector with an average salary of NIS 30,576 per month. They are closely followed by those in financial services and insurance with an average salary of NIS 29,274 per month. In third place are workers in the energy and water supply sector with an average salary of NIS 21,859 per month.

On the other hand, workers in the hotel and catering sector received the lowest average salaries at just NIS 6,289 per month. This was followed by workers in other services with an average salary of NIS 6,474 per month and employees in arts leisure and entertainment sector with an average salary of NIS
