Derek Jeter, the Baseball Hall of Famer, has sold his lake-front castle in upstate New York for $6.3 million. Located on Greenwood Lake, less than 50 miles north of Yankee Stadium, Jeter purchased the castle in 2003 for $425,000 and transformed it into a magnificent fortress.
The castle boasts a turret, bridge, waterfall, fountains and even a replica of the Statue of Liberty. It was originally listed for over $14 million in 2018 but after years of struggling to sell it, Jeter finally found a buyer only after reducing the asking price significantly. The property went up for auction in 2022 before going into contract in May for $6.3 million.
This is not Jeter’s first major property sale since retiring from MLB almost a decade ago. In 2021, he sold a 21,796-square-foot mansion in Tampa for over $22 million. The sale of this castle marks another milestone in Jeter’s post-baseball career as he continues to invest and diversify his business portfolio.
