CWI Celebrates Groundbreaking for New Health & Science Building: Uniting Health Programs and Strengthening Student Success

The College of Western Idaho held a beam signing event to mark the topping out of the new Health & Science building at its Nampa campus. This is the first expansion at the college since it opened in 2007 and will centralize the Health & Science department under one roof.

Former student Nichelle Boyce, who earned her degree in Surgical Technology from CWI, expressed excitement about the expansion and its benefits for future students. She highlighted how having all professors in one location would make it easier for students to reach out for questions and answers, streamline their learning process and improve collaboration among them.

With the college currently spread out across different locations in the valley, consolidating the Health & Science department in the new building will provide students with access to all resources in one spot. This is expected to be particularly beneficial for students pursuing healthcare careers as they will have everything they need in one place. The school believes that collaboration is a crucial aspect of student learning and views this expansion as a key area for growth.

Vice Chair Trustee Cherie Buckner-Webb emphasized the urgent need for more healthcare professionals not only in Idaho but globally. She stressed that CWI is preparing students to meet this demand and serve communities around the world.
