Croatia’s Vehicle Registration Numbers on the Rise in 2023: A Breakdown of New and Renewed Registrations, as Well as Accidents with Casualties

Last year, Croatia recorded an increase in the number of registered road vehicles by 4 percent, with a total of 2,554,524 vehicles on its roads. Of these vehicles, passenger cars saw a 3.8 percent increase compared to the previous year, while first-time registrations for motorcycles rose by 42.3 percent. In terms of trucks and road tractors, there were notable increases in first-time registrations, with trucks seeing a 36.6 percent rise and road tractors experiencing a 29.3 percent growth.

On the other hand, agricultural tractors registered for the first time increased by just 10.5 percent to a total of 7,483 new registrations. However, the number of first bus registrations decreased by 2.5 percent to a total of 5,799. In terms of road traffic accidents with casualties, there was an increase of 6.3 percent to a total of 10,633 incidents in 2023, resulting in an increase of 6.6 percent compared to the previous year with a total of 274 deaths and 14,204 injuries.

It’s worth noting that the State Institute of Statistics also reported that there were significant increases in first-time registrations for both passenger vehicles and trucks last year.

Overall, it seems that Croatia is experiencing steady growth in its vehicle registration numbers despite some fluctuations in certain categories such as buses.
