The incident occurred in the seventh inning when he was hit by a pitch thrown by reliever Austin Voth. Despite being struck on the back leg by an 0-2 pitch that bounced in the dirt, Seager initially remained in the game after receiving attention from the medical staff.

Following the Rangers’ 5-1 win, manager Bruce Bochy mentioned that Seager’s status for the next game would depend on how he feels in the morning. Bochy noted that Seager’s left shin swelled up noticeably after the incident, raising concerns about his ability to play in Thursday afternoon’s game.
