Pizza Hut ventures into the burger industry: What you need to know this week

In a major shift in the coffee industry, Starbucks has suffered its worst fiscal quarter since the start of the pandemic, with a 4% decline in global same-store sales and a decrease in rewards members. This marks the first time in a decade that Starbucks has seen such a decline. In contrast, Dutch Bros, based in Oregon, has emerged as a success story this quarter, reporting a 10% increase in same-store sales and positive traffic trends.

In other news, Pizza Hut is looking to expand its menu by venturing into the popular American category of burgers. The Plano, Texas-based restaurant recently introduced the Cheeseburger Melt nationwide. This handheld item features a parmesan-crusted thin crust that is folded and filled with beef, applewood-smoked bacon, onions, mozzarella, and cheddar. It is served with the brand’s signature “Burger Sauce” on the side.
