Co-op, a UK retailer, has recently announced a new partnership with Walmart to enhance its customer experience and increase its market share in the quick commerce sector. The retailer will implement the Store Assist online fulfilment technology from Walmart Commerce Technologies, which allows retailers to manage various types of orders in one place. This includes pickup, third-party marketplace, ship-from-store, and last-mile delivery orders.
Co-op’s head of online development, George Hayworth, emphasized the importance of ease, speed, and convenience for customers as they grow their share of the quick commerce market through their online shop and strategic partnerships. By working closely with Walmart Commerce Technologies to implement this new technology, Co-op aims to provide a quick and reliable service for its member-owners and customers while continuing to grow its business.
With this expansion in reach and accessibility, Co-op now estimates that over 80% of the UK population has access to Co-op groceries either through its own online shop or via partners like Just Eat, Uber Eats, and Deliveroo. This demonstrates Co-op’s commitment to meeting the needs of customers no matter when or where they choose to shop.
