Christian Haynes Named a 2023 Athlon Sports Preseason All-American

2023 ATHLON SPORTS PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA Group

STORRS, Conn. – UConn senior offensive lineman Christian Haynes (Bowie, MD) added a further preseason honor to his resume this week, earning a spot on the 2023 Athlon Sports College Football Preseason All-America Team.  Haynes was named to the 2023 preseason second group offense for the annual college football publication. 

Haynes has also earned a spot on the 2023 Walter Camp Preseason FBS All-American group, presented by 777.  Haynes was named to the second group on the preseason list.

At the finish of the 2022 campaign, Haynes was named to the Related Press and Sporting News All-American teams.  He was just the third Husky in the FBS era to garner All-American honors and the initial because operating back Jordan Todman was tabbed a initial group selection by the Sporting News in 2010 as effectively as earning a spot on the AP (2nd group) and Walter Camp Foundation (2nd group).  In 2008, operating back Donald Brown became UConn’s initial All-American because joining FBS, also becoming named to the initial group by the Sporting News and second group by the Related Press and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

The UConn guard anchored the Husky offensive line and operating game in 2022.  Haynes, along with rest of his linemates, began all 13 games fueled a rushing attack that averaged 194.9 yards per game.  The Huskies went more than 200-yards plus rushing in six games and 3-straight to close out the common season.  Haynes, who has began 37-straight games more than the final 3 seasons, also led a unit that ranked 30th nationally in sacks permitted, providing up 17 on the season, just 1.42 per game.
