Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris had the opportunity to practice against Peyton Manning for four years, from 2012 to 2015. In a recent interview with Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams Show,” Harris reflected on his experience going up against Manning in practice and how it helped him become a better player.
Harris described Manning as an incredible quarterback, both on and off the field. He was always prepared for any situation that came his way, whether it was practicing in different weather conditions or simulating game scenarios. Harris admired Manning’s attention to detail and dedication to perfection.
One of the things that stood out to Harris was Manning’s timing and precision. The ball would be released from Manning’s hands before the receiver even made their break, ensuring that it would reach them perfectly. This level of accuracy forced the receivers to be exactly where Manning needed them to be, resulting in incredibly catchable passes.
Harris credits Manning for helping the Broncos’ defense, especially the secondary known as the “No Fly Zone,” elevate their game. He believes that the competition and preparation against Manning in practice pushed the defensive backs to reach new levels of performance, ultimately contributing to the team’s success in winning Super Bowl 50.
In his interview with Adams, Harris emphasized the importance of facing a quarterback of Manning’s caliber in practice. He said it forced him and his teammates to constantly improve and adapt, which ultimately made them better players. Harris looks back on his time with Manning fondly and is grateful for everything he learned from him during their time together in Denver.
