Noah Lyles and Gabby Thomas are two of the top athletes leading the 28-member USA Track and Field roster for the World Athletics Relays, which will take place in the Bahamas on May 4-5. At the event, the top 14 nations in the men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x400m, as well as the mixed-gender 4x400m, will qualify for the Paris Olympics. Following this, the top two nations per event that have not yet qualified will earn the last spots based on world rankings on June 30th.
Last August, Noah Lyles made history by becoming the first sprinter to sweep world titles in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m since Usain Bolt in 2015. He played a crucial role in anchoring the U.S. men’s 4x100m relay team to a gold medal. Lyles is set to compete in the men’s 4x100m pool at the World Relays alongside Olympic silver medalist Kenny Bednarek, among other talented athletes.
On the women’s side, Gabby Thomas and Tamari Davis are included in both teams’ respective pools for their impressive performances at August’s world championships. Thomas also secured a silver medal in her individual race of choice -the women’s long jump -at said championships while Davis won gold medals in both events she participated – women’s long jump and women’s triple jump . The U.S. women’s team is also showcasing its strength with Quanera Hayes competing in both races -the Women’s long jump & Women’s Triple Jump . She is currently holding an American record after jumping over seven meters at last year’s Tokyo Olympic Trials qualifying round
