The Worcester Telegram & Gazette and the USA Today Network organized a recognition program, the Central Mass High School Sports Awards, to honor top-performing athletes, coaches and teams in the Central Massachusetts area. During this year’s ceremony held at the Hanover Theater & Conservatory for the Performing Arts in Worcester on June 26th, Samantha Difonte of North Middlesex Regional High School was named Gymnast of the Year.
Samantha, a rising senior from Townsend, is a participant in the co-operative gymnastics program with Groton-Dunstable Regional High School. Her achievements are numerous; she holds the program’s vault record of 9.6 and has earned the highest all-around score of 37.65. In addition to her gymnastics accomplishments, Samantha is also an outstanding member of the North Middlesex Regional High School Track Team.
Superintendent Brad Morgan of Townsend expressed his delight at this prestigious award and congratulated Samantha on her outstanding achievement. He commended her for being an exceptional student-athlete and emphasized how much hard work and dedication it takes to excel in athletics. He hoped that Samantha would take pride in her accomplishments for years to come.
