Venezuelan Juan Vicente Perez Mora, who was recognized by Guinness World Records as the oldest man in the world in 2022 at the age of 114, passed away on Tuesday. According to officials and family members, Perez had been officially recognized as the oldest living man on February 4, 2022, when he was 112 years and 253 days old.

Perez, known as Tio Vicente, was born in El Cobre, a town in Tachira state of the Andes on May 27, 1909. He was the ninth of ten children and began working in agriculture at the age of five alongside his father and brothers with sugar cane and coffee harvesting. As he grew older, Perez became a sheriff and played an instrumental role in resolving land and family disputes while continuing his work in agriculture.

Perez’s passing marks the end of an incredible life that spanned over a century. His record-breaking age and legacy as the oldest man in the world have left an indelible mark on history. May he rest in peace.
