The World’s Oldest Man, a Venezuelan, Passes Away at 114

Juan Vicente Perez Mora, who was officially recognized as the oldest living man on February 4, 2022, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 114 in Caracas, Venezuela. Born on May 27, 1909, Perez grew up in El Cobre in the Andean state of Tachira as the ninth of ten children. He began working in agriculture at a young age and continued to do so throughout his long life.

Perez had an impressive legacy that extended through multiple generations. He had 11 children, 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Despite his advanced age, he remained active and continued to work in agriculture until his passing.

In recognition of his remarkable life and contributions to his community, Perez was honored by Guinness World Records as the oldest living man. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro paid tribute to him on social media after learning of his death. He acknowledged Perez’s long and significant life and thanked him for being a shining example of dedication and wisdom for future generations.
