The Fourth on the Field celebration at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento was a huge success on Thursday evening. Families and friends gathered to watch the dazzling fireworks display, with many arriving early to secure their perfect spot in the stadium or on the field.
Holli Wood and her kids were among those who arrived early to stake out a shaded spot on the field. Before the fireworks began, attendees enjoyed live music by Sacramento’s Dunsbar Road, shopped at local vendors, and sampled food from the food trucks parked in the outfield. To beat the summer heat, Dinger’s splash pad, cooling tents, and cold treat stops were also available at the ballpark.
Val Gomez, attending for the first time, expressed gratitude for being able to celebrate Independence Day with family and honor service members. The West Sacramento display on the riverfront has become a cherished family tradition for many in the absence of the downtown fireworks show. These celebrations allow families to come together and honor freedom.
As Holli Wood put it, “It’s about just being able to spend time with family. And our freedom.”
