Winners of the 2024 Excellence in Business Awards announced by Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce

In 2024, the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the exceptional business achievements of local companies with the Excellence in Business Awards. These awards, now in their 18th year, recognize outstanding business accomplishments in the Greater Newport area.

On April 9, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., the Excellence in Business Awards Dinner will be held at Wyndham Newport Atlantic Resort. The event will immediately follow the annual Expo and feature a keynote speech by Jennifer Brummund, Chief Human Resources Officer at Raytheon. The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce is a business advocacy organization with over 900 members representing nearly 50,000 employees. The organization’s mission is to connect, innovate, enhance and advocate for businesses in the Greater Newport region. By fostering strategic partnerships and supporting economic growth and diversity, the Chamber aims to bring prosperity to its members and the community it serves.

The Excellence in Business Awards aim to recognize local businesses for their achievements and their significant contributions to economic development in the region. Award categories include Microbusiness, Small Business, Big Business, Emerging Leader and Woman-Owned. This year’s winners are Centreville Bank, Norman Bird Sanctuary, Charter Books, First Tee Rhode Island and McNeill Children’s Institute.

Centreville Bank has been named as this year’s winner of Microbusiness award for its commitment to providing exceptional customer service while promoting financial literacy among children through its Kids’ Club program.

Norman Bird Sanctuary has won Small Business award for its dedication towards environmental conservation efforts while also creating job opportunities within the community.

Charter Books has been recognized as Big Business award winner for its role in promoting literacy among students through book clubs and educational programs.

First Tee Rhode Island has won Emerging Leader award for its innovative approach towards youth development through golf lessons.

Finally McNeill Children’s Institute has been awarded as Woman-Owned business for its commitment towards providing quality care to children with special needs while also empowering women entrepreneurs through mentorship programs.

These awards not only recognize individual businesses but also highlight their contributions towards economic development of the region as a whole.
