A Hamas delegation, led by Khalil al Haya, has arrived in Cairo, Egypt, to continue indirect negotiations with Israel over a ceasefire in Gaza. The delegation is working alongside mediators from Egypt and Qatar in this effort.
In a press conference in Beirut, a senior official of Hamas, Osama Hamdan, expressed concern over Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian side of Rafah in Gaza. He called it a predetermined attempt by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to hinder the implementation of the agreement and revealed his desperation to create a pseudo-victory to save face.
Hamdan highlighted that the acceptance of the proposed ceasefire agreement and the release of Palestinian prisoners have put Netanyahu in a difficult situation, leading him to act hysterically and reveal his political defeat. He called on the Biden Administration to put pressure on the Netanyahu government to demonstrate sincerity in achieving peace.
