Carrefour CEO Alexandre Bompard has announced that the company will be officially entering the Cora and Match stores in the east and north of France. This acquisition of 175 stores from the Louis Delhaize group is seen as a major and structuring operation by Carrefour, marking the most significant operation since the acquisition of Promodes over twenty years ago. Although the Competition Authority has not yet made a ruling on the acquisition, an exemption has been granted to Carrefour to begin integrating the points of sale, which includes approximately 22,000 employees, including the Provera purchasing center.
This development signals a new step in the evolution of the French retail market. The Carrefour group is strategically expanding its reach and presence in the French retail landscape, building on its acquisition of the Cora and Match stores. With a focus on growth and the integration of new points of sale, Carrefour is positioning itself for continued success in the competitive retail market. The acquisition is seen as a key milestone in the company’s long-term strategy and reflects its commitment to serving customers across France.
