Capturing Nature’s Majesty: The World Nature Photography Awards Unveil Stunning Winners

The World Nature Photography Awards has named Tracey Lund of the UK as the first prize winner for her photograph of two gannets fighting for a fish in the waters near Scotland’s Shetland Islands. Taken from a boat while on holiday, Lund captured this breathtaking scene using a DSLR camera in waterproof housing.

The awards featured categories such as animal portraits, plants and fungi, and invertebrate, amphibian, and reptile behavior. In addition to Lund’s win, Ivan Pedretti of Italy won first prize in the Planet Earth’s landscapes and environments category for his magical photo of winter in Stokksnes, Iceland. Pedretti shared his appreciation for the contrast of colors in the landscape and how it influenced him to change his habits for the benefit of the planet.

The World Nature Photography Awards aims to promote photography and contribute to environmental causes by planting a tree for each entry into the competition. Co-founder Adrian Dinsdale commended the 2024 winners, stating that they never fail to take their breath away with their stunning images. The awards serve as a reminder that photography can influence people to see the world differently and make positive changes for our planet.
