The latest U.S. News and World Report ranking of the “Best High Schools” in America was released on Tuesday, highlighting several San Diego-area schools that made the list. Canyon Crest Academy, located in the San Dieguito Union High School District, was the highest ranked school in California and nationwide, coming in at No. 15 and No. 140 respectively.
Following closely behind were two other San Diego schools: The Preuss School UCSD and Del Norte High School, which ranked at No. 2 and No. 3 in the county, respectively.
The top ten public high schools in San Diego include Westview High School, Mt. Everest Academy, Scripps Ranch High School, La Jolla High School, Sage Creek High School, River Valley Charter, and Del Lago Academy – Campus of Applied Science. U.S. News and World Report partners with a nonprofit research firm called RTI International to rank nearly 25,000 high schools across the country. The rankings are determined by weighted scores based on factors such as graduation rates, standardized testing outcomes, and college-level exam performance.
