The CAA has announced its weekly women’s basketball awards for the second week of the 2023-24 season. Redshirt sophomore Chaniya Clark from North Carolina A&T has been named Player of the Week, while freshman Laine McGurk from Drexel has earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Clark made significant contributions to her team’s 2-0 week, scoring 13.5 points and grabbing 8.5 rebounds per game in two victories over Wake Forest and Liberty. In particular, she had a standout performance in the game against Liberty, where she scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to help North Carolina A&T secure a double-digit victory.
Meanwhile, McGurk also impressed with her impressive play, averaging 15.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game across three games this past week. Her strong performances included a double-digit point effort in each game, including an instrumental role in Drexel’s win over La Salle with a career-high 19 points and nine rebounds.
The previous week saw Khari Clark from Stony Brook named Player of the Week and Darrionna Howard from Delaware earning Rookie of the Week honors. This week’s awards further highlight the incredible talent and depth within the CAA women’s basketball division.
