The Buffalo Sabres are making waves in the NHL’s free agent market with a series of signings that aim to bolster their roster for the upcoming season. First up is veteran forward Jason Zucker, who has agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal with the team. With six 20-goal seasons under his belt in his 13-year NHL career, Zucker is expected to bring experience and scoring ability to the team.
Next on the list is Sam Lafferty, who has signed a two-year, $4 million contract with Buffalo. Lafferty is a skilled forward who can play both center and wing and is expected to add depth and versatility to the Sabres’ bottom six forward group.
Nicolas Aube-Kubel has also joined the ranks, signing a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the team. Aube-Kubel is a young forward with plenty of upside who can provide some much-needed speed and skill in Buffalo’s bottom six forward group.
On the defensive end, Buffalo native Dennis Gilbert has returned home on a one-year contract worth $825,000. Gilbert was drafted by the Sabres in 2014 and spent three seasons in their organization before being traded to Colorado in 2017. Now back with his hometown team, Gilbert will be looking to make an impact and prove his worth as an NHL player.
Jacob Bryson has also re-signed with the Sabres on a one-year, $900,000 deal. Bryson is a promising defenseman who had an impressive debut season last year, scoring five points in 27 games while averaging over 21 minutes per game. He will be looking to build on that success this coming season as he continues to develop into an NHL regular.
