Mentally ill patient attacks three staff members at mental health facility in Buffalo

The stabbing at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center campus in north Buffalo occurred around 9 a.m. on Wednesday inside the Strozzi Building. According to officials from the New York State’s Office of Mental Health, three staff members were injured by a patient during the incident.

Officials are actively assisting the Buffalo Police Department in their investigation into the matter, and their top priority is the safety of both their staff and the individuals they serve. Thoughts are with the injured employees and their families during this difficult time.

Local news outlet WIVB-TV reported that two men and a woman were transported to the hospital by ambulance after being involved in an incident shortly after 9 a.m. One of the staff members is believed to be seriously injured, while the suspect was taken into police custody. The suspect has not been identified at this time.
