Hayes Costner recently joined his father Kevin in the upcoming Western film “Horizon: An American Saga” for a special reason. Kevin wanted his son’s companionship on set as he felt it was important to share this experience with him, even though it may have been criticized as nepotism.
In the film, Hayes plays Nathaniel Kittredge, the teenage son of Sienna Miller’s character Frances. The character Hayes Ellison, played by Kevin himself, is named after his real-life son. Although Hayes’ role is smaller, Kevin expressed pride in his son’s performance, describing it as “really beautiful.” He enjoyed having his son by his side during filming and even drove to the set together each day.
“Horizon: An American Saga” is the first installment in Kevin’s four-part franchise about America’s westward expansion post-Civil War. The movie is set to be released on June 28 with Chapter Two scheduled to premiere in theaters on August 16. Despite any potential criticisms, Kevin’s decision to cast his son in the film was motivated by his desire to have this unique experience with Hayes by his side.
