20,000 fans gathered at Maksimir stadium to witness the final match of the Croatian national football team against Armenia in the qualifiers for Euro 2024. Among them was Rafael Beserra, a Brazilian fan who has been following the ‘fire’ since childhood. He was introduced to the public at the end of the League of Nations in Rotterdam and has now moved to Zagreb where he studies Croatian and lives his dream.
Beserra is a huge fan of Modrić, and it was an honor for him to meet his idol during his visit to Croatia. He spoke about his experience at Maksimir and expressed how happy he was to be watching the national team play in Croatia for the first time. “I’ve never been to Maksimir before, but I can say that this is a wonderful city,” he said. “I’m studying Croatian here, and I’m living my dream.”
During an interview with us, Beserra showcased his skills in the Croatian language and gave us his prediction for the match. “I think it will be 3-0,” he said confidently. When asked about who would score these goals, he named Modrić, Ivanušec and Majer without hesitation. “These players are dedicated to our national team,” he said proudly. “And I have already bought tickets for Euro in Germany!”
Beserra is not only passionate about football but also very active on social media where he shares updates on his language learning journey and posts about his love for Modrić and other players on the Croatian national team. It is clear that this Brazilian is deeply committed to supporting our national team and has become an integral part of our football community in Croatia.
