The Bournville plant continues to be the cornerstone of Cadbury’s business – owner

The Bournville factory, home to the world-famous Cadbury chocolate brand, will remain at the heart of the business for years to come, according to its owners. As part of their 200th anniversary celebrations, Mondeléz International, Cadbury’s parent company, has stated that Bournville is seen as the “Crown Jewels” of the business.

Despite facing a hostile takeover by American firm Kraft in 2010 and moving some production to Poland, Cadbury pledged to maintain production at Bournville. And since becoming part of Mondelez International in 2012, Bournville has been named the Global Centre of Excellence for chocolate research and development.

Although there have been significant changes over the years, including job losses at Bournville and some production being moved abroad, managing director Louise Stigant emphasized that the company has invested £270m in the UK business since taking it over 14 years ago. She highlighted that Bournville remains a key location and central hub within Cadbury’s operations and future plans.

Ms. Stigant expressed her privilege of being part of a company with such a rich heritage and said celebrating 200 years is a significant milestone for the brand. She described Bournville as a “Crown Jewel” globally and emphasized its importance within the company’s operations and future plans.
