Blinken faces issues with his Boeing jet, preventing him from taking off

In Europe for talks on the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken encountered issues with a Boeing jet. The Air Force C-40 jet, a modified version of the Boeing 737, developed unspecified problems during his travels. Blinken, who usually travels on aircraft from the Air Force fleet, arrived in Brussels without any incidents for a meeting of the NATO foreign ministers.

This is not Blinken’s first encounter with problems on a Boeing plane. Earlier this year, a similar model of plane faced a critical failure due to an oxygen leak while returning from Switzerland. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and quality of Boeing jets after other problems were reported on subsequent flights.

The door plug blowing off a 737 Max on an Alaska Airlines flight caused a hole in the side of the plane and further highlighted these concerns. However, investigations have shown that many of these issues occurred on older planes and may not necessarily be caused by anything Boeing did. Nonetheless, media coverage has brought more attention to these incidents and led to increased scrutiny of Boeing’s commercial jets.
