billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch struggles to sell his $28.5 million New York City apartment despite price reductions and failed attempts to find a buyer.

Rupert Murdoch, the 93-year-old billionaire media mogul, has recently reduced the price of his three-floor New York City apartment to $28.5 million. The property was initially listed for $62 million in 2022 and features stunning 360-degree views of Manhattan. Despite multiple attempts to find a buyer, the penthouse has remained unsold for quite some time.

The nearly 7,000-square-foot penthouse is located near the Flatiron building and Madison Square Park, making it an attractive option for those looking for a luxurious living space in the heart of Manhattan. However, despite its prime location and impressive views, the property has been a challenging sell for Murdoch.

Murdoch’s latest attempt to sell the apartment at a reduced price comes after years of price reductions and failed attempts to re-list it at a lower price. The former chair of Fox Corporation and News Corp., briefly listed the apartment for $72 million in 2015 but later reduced the asking price to $62 million in 2022. The property was briefly taken off the market in December 2023 before being re-listed in April for $38.5 million. However, this did not result in any sales, leading to another reduction in price to $28.5 million two months later.

Despite its difficulty in selling, Murdoch’s net worth of $19.7 billion likely softens the impact on his finances. Still, with no luck so far finding a buyer for his luxury penthouse, Murdoch may need to consider alternative options or continue trying to sell at a lower price until he finds success.

Despite its challenges in selling, Murdoch and his new wife Elena Zhukova have found success in other ventures together.

In conclusion, Rupert Murdoch’s New York City apartment has undergone significant reductions over the years as he struggles to find a buyer despite its prime location and impressive views. However, with perseverance and patience or maybe an alternative approach altogether, he may be able to sell his luxury penthouse someday.
