Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and currently ranked as the world’s richest person, recently sold two billion dollars’ worth of shares in the e-commerce giant he founded. The documents submitted to the Securities Market Regulatory Authority on Friday revealed that Bezos sold approximately 12 million Amazon shares on Wednesday and Thursday, with each share priced at 168-171 dollars. Earlier in the week, Bezos had made it known that he plans to sell 50 million Amazon shares next July.
Despite stepping down from his position as CEO of Amazon in 2021, Bezos remains as chairman of the company’s board. Despite this change in leadership, he continues to be listed among the three richest people in the world according to both Forbes financial magazine and Bloomberg financial news agency’s billionaire listings.
