PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland Thorns forward Janine Beckie tore a ligament in her appropriate knee and will miss the National Women’s Soccer League season and the Globe Cup this summer time season with Canada.
Beckie tore her ACL in a preseason game amongst the Thorns and the U.S. beneath-23 women’s national group Wednesday.
She talked about “heartbroken is an understatement” in a post Friday on social media.
“Having worked so actually difficult via the off-season for what was set to be 1 of the most important seasons of my profession, defending the title for Portland Thorns and of course playing in the Globe Cup for Canada, becoming out for an extended period of time is a difficult pill to swallow,” she wrote.
Beckie, 28, has played for the Canadian national group provided that 2014. She designed her 101st appear for Canada in a match against Japan final month in the team’s final match of the SheBelieves Cup tournament in Texas.
Basic she has 36 targets for Canada, at the moment ranked sixth in the globe.
Beckie signed with the Thorns final season quickly immediately after a four-season stint with Manchester City in the Women’s Super League.
The Thorns talked about Beckie will have surgery in the coming weeks.
