Diamondbacks and LHP Jordan Montgomery reach one-year deal

The Arizona Diamondbacks have bolstered their starting rotation by signing veteran left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery to a one-year contract worth up to $25 million. Details of the contract, including a vesting option for 2025, were revealed on Tuesday. Montgomery, 31, previously played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers.

In the 2022 season, Montgomery had a standout run with the Cardinals, posting a 3.42 ERA over 21 starts. After being traded to the Rangers in July, he went 4-2 with a 2.79 ERA in his final 11 starts. His strong performance continued in the postseason, where he went 3-1 and helped the Rangers secure their first World Series title.
