Should Apple develop a stylus for use on the Vision Pro viewer?

Apple is currently developing a new stylus that will be compatible with its mixed reality (MR) device, the Vision Pro viewer. This stylus will have support for the operating system visionOS, which powers the Vision Pro viewer. Internal testing of the stylus has already been completed.

The Vision Pro viewer was announced by Apple in June of the previous year and launched in February in the United States with a starting price of $3,499. The device uses spatial computing technology and features a three-dimensional user interface, allowing users to interact with applications using hands, voice, and eyes.

Apple’s goal with the Vision Pro viewer was to revolutionize how people work, collaborate, connect, relive memories, and enjoy entertainment. The company aimed to create the most advanced consumer electronics device ever.

In order to enhance the capabilities of the Vision Pro viewer, Apple has developed a new version of its stylus that is currently compatible only with various iPad models (Pro, Air, mini). According to sources familiar with the matter, this new version of the stylus will have support for visionOS and will be usable with drawing applications on the Vision Pro like Freeform and Pixelmator. The updated software required for this new stylus is expected to be announced at Apple’s developer conference, WWDC 2023.
