What is open and closed on the Fourth of July

On July 4th, Americans will celebrate their country’s birthday with barbecues, fireworks, and a day off from work. The holiday commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress in 1776. This year, the Fourth falls on Thursday.

Several stores have announced their plans for the holiday. Target and Walmart locations will maintain their regular hours, while most Kroger grocery stores like Fred Meyer, Dillons, and Ralphs will also be open. Sam’s Club will be open with adjusted hours for Plus and Club members, while Costco warehouses will be closed. Whole Foods will operate normally, while Trader Joe’s will close early at 5 pm.

Independence Day is a national holiday in the United States. This means that services such as the United States Postal Service, UPS, FedEx, and most banks will be closed on July 4th. However, some services like UPS Express Critical and FedEx Custom Critical will still be available for urgent shipments. Nonessential government offices like the DMV and public libraries will also be closed on July 4th. Online banking services and ATMs will remain operational to provide convenient options for those needing access to financial services on this day off from work.
