A Young Nerdy Girl’s Love for Science and Inspiration to Girls Everywhere: An Interview with Hannah Beth

Feb 11, 2024
2024 International Day of Women and Girls in Science – Celebrating Nerdy Girls

Today, on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, I had the pleasure of interviewing my young niece about her love of science and her role models. It’s always exciting to hear about what young children are learning in the science classroom and what keeps them interested in the subject.

At Those Nerdy Girls, we take great pride in our all-woman team and are working hard to inspire girls and women across the country to pursue careers in science. We aim to be positive role models for aspiring young girls and women, encouraging them to follow their passions. Today, we share a brief interview with a very young Nerdy Girl.

Hannah Beth, who is 7 and three-quarters years old, shares that her favorite activity is art. She dreams of becoming a kindergarten teacher or a psychologist when she grows up. Right now, in her science class, she is learning about magnets and is fascinated by how things work around her, such as the human body and how magnets work. When asked about her role models in science, her immediate response is “my MOMMY!”

It’s always heartwarming and inspiring to hear young girls like Hannah Beth share their love of science and their aspirations for the future. As Nerdy Girl Sara, I stand in solidarity with the celebration of women and girls in science today and every day. Together, we can continue to inspire future generations of scientists by providing positive role models and resources for those who want to pursue careers in this exciting field.
