14-Year-Old Treyvon Hoskins: From Lawn Mower to Business Owner

Treyvon Hoskins, a 14-year-old boy from Howell, has been making waves in his community with his hard work and dedication to lawn care. By the age of 10, he had his own business cards and was mowing neighbors’ lawns for pay. His passion for landscaping began at a young age, and he used Facebook to find customers and even mowed some neighbors’ lawns for free when they were in the hospital.

Thanks to the generosity of various donors, Treyvon received a Craftsman riding mower, a Honda push mower, work boots and socks, business cards, T-shirts, yard signs, door hangers, and fuel for the entire season. During a recent City Council meeting, Treyvon was thanked for his service and received a standing ovation.

Councilmember Nikolas Hertrich first noticed Treyvon mowing lawns in the summer of 2021 and was impressed by his work ethic and professionalism at such a young age. He rallied the city to gather donations to support Treyvon’s business, Treyvon’s Lawn Service. Several businesses and organizations stepped up to help, including UPS driver Keith Ozment, Agape City Church, Byrum Ace Hardware, Howell Western Wear, First Impression Print and Marketing, Hutson, and Mugg and Bopps.

At the meeting, there was a five-minute recess for everyone in attendance to view the new Craftsman riding mower in the parking lot. Treyvon dreams of one day owning his own truck and trailer and adding more employees to his business. He reflected on how he always hoped for this day to come and is now excited for what the future holds.
