Juan Vicente Perez Mora, a resident of the town of El Cobre in Táchira state, Venezuela, held the title of the world’s oldest man alive until his death on Tuesday at the age of 114. He was officially certified in February 2022 as the oldest man in the world by Guinness World Records.

Perez, who was born on May 27, 1909, had an active involvement in agriculture from an early age. He started working with his father and brothers in sugar cane and coffee harvesting when he was just five years old. Throughout his long life, Perez witnessed many changes and historical events that left a lasting legacy for him and his family.

Perez was known to have fathered 11 children and had a large family consisting of 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. His achievement in holding the Guinness Record for being the oldest man in the world has been acknowledged by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro who expressed his condolences on Wednesday.
